Business Analyst / Deliverability — Portland, OR

As a member of the Network Operations Team, you are mandated to monitor, analyze, and improve deliverability of all of our clients' email campaigns, and to keep abreast of all new policy and technology developments affecting deliverability, including legislation, ISP white listing policies, trusted sender technologies etc.

Responsibilities

  • Daily monitoring and analysis of any data related to deliverability, such as SMTP logs, AOL abuse complaints, AOL report cards, etc.
  • Check and monitor major blacklists to ensure we know if one of our IPs gets listed
  • White list all new client sites with the major ISPs
  • Resolve any blocking issues by interfacing with ISP's postmaster team
  • Keep informed of all new developments relating to deliverability
  • Attend conferences dedicated to deliverability and anti-spam measures
  • Manage ISP relations
  • Discuss Blocking / Deliverability issues with ISP's daily / weekly.
  • Contact ISP Postmaster Teams regularly to obtain system information and updates regarding there system.
  • Inform ISP's about any major changes on our system that may affect mail delivery.
  • Constantly network and obtain as many new ISP contacts as possible through regular / innovative methods.
  • Field heated calls / emails from ISP's pertaining to blocks that may occur (Spamhaus, Outblaze).
  • Develop creative solutions with the ISP that will allow mail deployment to continue.
  • Participate in the design and development of technologies relating to deliverability improvement in our product
  • Educate clients on topics of deliverability and spam filtering
  • Develop new innovative methods of tracking / monitoring / improving deliverability.

Experience

  • Ability to work in a fluid environment

  • Good knowledge in general about email/SMTP related technical terms and processes
  • Working knowledge of SQL (mySQL and MS SQL Server)
  • Development knowledge using JSP
  • Familiar with anti-spam and trusted sender technologies
  • Strong communications skills and ability to communicate with ISPs as well as clients
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven track record of superior performance

Education

  • College or University degree in a technical field
