We have an immediate requirement for a Production Database Administrator to join our Technology team. The key qualifications are:
Experience
Minimum of 2+ Years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience (Database setup, configuration, maintenance, backup and some SQL programming experience preferred)
Knowledge of Open Source Database technologies including MySQL and PostgreSQL
Experience with 7x24 high-availability and high-performance E-Commerce/E-Business and other web-based ASPs
Excellent communication, problem-solving and analytical skills
An understanding of multi-tier web application development
Ability to perform under pressure
Advanced SQL Server 2000/2005 database admin knowledge and experience
Experience with migrating SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005
Solid Windows server and some Linux background (especially MySQL on Linux platforms)
Expert knowledge in both ANSI SQL and t/SQL
Familiar with JDBC and ODBC
Knowledge/experience of SQL Server performance tuning, index design and query optimization
Knowledge/experience of SQL Server clustering, backup, maintenance, and disaster recovery
Knowledge of application server platforms such as J2EE and ASP highly desirable
Education
A Computer Science, Software Engineering or other technical background
Microsoft Certified DBA (MCDBA) certificate is a must, and other DBA certification a definite asset
